Featuring: Young architect/designer Chris Tate designed this home. The home: The stunning glass structure rests low on the dense forest floor in the rainforest of Titarungi near Auckland, New Zealand. The intention of Chris´s "touching the earth lightly" design was to intentionally have "minimum- impact" with the focus on the environment, trees, flora and fauna outdoors. The 100 sq. metre house was designed around the curve of the ancient Puriri tree trunk that frames the rear of the building. The style: Modern, simple, daring and green, totally in pact with nature. Many of the furnishings are by New Zealand designers including the slatted timber "Glide" lounger by David Trubridge and white timber coffee table and charcoal sofa by Simon James.
