Featuring: The tranquil Tøyen apartment of Andreas, a cinematographer and photographer, and Sunniva, an artist and composer. The Home: Andreas purchased this 81-sqm apartment in Tøyen, Oslo, in 2019, with Sunniva moving in two years later. Their vision for the home was to create a peaceful and inspiring space that blends functionality with timeless design. Influenced by iconic architects such as Sverre Fehn and Alvar Aalto, the renovation focused on preserving classical elements like stucco and original flooring while incorporating clean, functionalist surfaces and bespoke pine furniture. Working closely with carpenter Michael James Poy, the couple transformed the space into a pine haven, with the natural material playing a central role in their sustainable, handcrafted interiors. The Style: The apartment balances minimalist, functionalist principles with playful touches of colour and light, creating an atmosphere of serenity and joy. Most of the furniture is solid wood, with bespoke pieces sitting alongside Scandinavian design classics by Alvar Aalto and Edvin Helseth. The couple’s home is filled with unique, personal items that reflect a love for craftsmanship and longevity, with reupholstered furniture and carefully chosen lighting adding to the cosy, lived-in feel.
